1. What is Prevacid and what is it used for?

   The active substance in Prevacid is lansoprazole, a proton pump inhibitor. Proton pump inhibitors reduce the amount of acid your stomach produces.

2. What you need to know before you take Prevacid

   Do not take Prevacid:

   • if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to lansoprazole or any of the other ingredients in this medicine (see section 6)
   • if you are taking a medicine that contains the active substance atazanavir (used in HIV treatment).

   Warnings and precautions

   Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Prevacid.

   • Tell your doctor if you have severe liver problems. Your doctor may need to adjust the dose.
   • Your doctor may or may not have done an additional exam called endoscopy to diagnose your condition and / or rule out malignancies.

3. How to take Prevacid
